How to Write an Ebook: Cover Design

I totally get that having a good cover on a book is EXTREMELY important, whether it is a print book, or an Ebook. Me, along with just about everyone else in the world has been known to buy a book, or not based solely on the cover. Except I also know that I’m one of the most un-creative people in the world when it comes to things like art, home decorating, graphic design, outside-the-box thinking, music or anything else related even remotely to any of those things. It’s kind of a major weakness of mine, but I kind of feel like there’s not much that I can do to improve it.

So where does that leave me with my Ebook cover? Kind of up in the air.

A couple friends made a couple attempts at it, but I didn’t immediately love either. It’s mostly my fault for not giving them any direction whatsoever, because I really have no vision for what I want.

I made an attempt at it with Amazon’s cover design tool, and I was reasonably happy but it’s not amazing. It doesn’t really have the “cool” factor going for it.

There are sites like Fiverr, or Elance where you can pay someone to do it for you, but the problem kind of is the same as the friend thing: I don’t even have a basic idea for what I want.

I just want something cool, something kind of like this, but how to get it? Hmmmm
