  1. I’m curious how one goes about publishing a textbook or book like the one you have. I’m teaching English also and thought about self-publishing. Is it just a matter of using some writing program and then uploading it on Amazon? Any tips you might have for someone who is thinking about writing a short book and self-publishing would be much appreciated. I’m thinking about something TEFL related.

    • It’s pretty simply to self-publish actually. Just look at Amazon and they have a helpful PDF guide to self-publishing with information on how to format your book appropriately.

      • Kind of unrelated, but couldn’t find your email to ask. I bought your e-book, and it was very helpful. One thing though is a list of Tier 1 unis would have been great. You said you applied to 17 of them (in Seoul and Busan), and based on all the ads on eslcafe so far, I think I’ve seen maybe 1 that would qualify as remotely Tier 1. Thanks!

        • Hi there….I’m happy that you found it helpful. I applied for jobs about 3 years ago and conditions were definitely better back then. More places are falling out of Tier 1 than moving up into it because there are just too many highly qualified applicants. Many of the 17 were kind of on the border between Tier 1 and Tier 2 and not necessarily in Tier 1 for every single thing.

And, remember that the top jobs don’t really advertise (and certainly not on an expensive paid site like Dave’s) but instead get filled by word of mouth.

  2. Really interested in purchasing this book as I live in Korea and will soon be looking for a new position. However, I’m wondering if there are any other buying options. I don’t own a Kindle and unfortunately the shipping cost exceed the cost of the book. I will eventually buy this book as I think it will be a great resource. Just want to check if there are any other options. Thanks
