Today, I went to the bank to transfer money to my brokerage account in the USA and I discovered that it had been almost exactly 1 year since I’d last done it. During this past year, I built up an emergency fund of about $10000, and then today I transferred $8000 to invest, and I have about $2000 left in my daily spending account. I remember transferring almost all the money I had in Korea one year ago, so that leaves me with around $20 000 saved for the year, or about $1700/month, which is kind of disappointing.
I generally make an average of $4000/month, so that means I’m usually spending around $2300/month. On what, I’m not really sure. It’s perhaps time for the dreaded “B” word: budget. Argh. I know it might be hard to believe, but since I just generally live pretty frugally, I usually don’t budget. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
Hmmm…that doesn’t seem quite right with the frugal Jackie. 🙁
